The 2011 LIVESTRONG Austin Marathon and Half Marathon is underway in downtown Austin this Sunday.
As race participants make their way to the finish line drivers in the Austin area will find many road closures, including Congress Avenue near the Capitol.
The first winner of the race Sunday, Karen Killeen, told KXAN Austin News this is her first race in six years. " I honestly came out today just to see who I was. Just glad to be out in the environment again. Just to test my fitness." Killeen ran the 3-mile portion of the womens 5k in 18 minutes.
The 26 mile course will take participants from the Capitol, South on Congress to Ben White, north to Anderson Lane, then back to the Capitol.
Some 20,000 runners including Lance Armstrong and Governor Rick Perry are out on the streets running the Austin Marathon.
